Biography of Mr. David Deon Lawton
Mr. David Deon Lawton is a dynamic entrepreneur, community leader, and educator based in Tallahassee, Florida. Originally from Tifton, Georgia, he owns and operates two successful businesses that have earned him recognition in Florida and Georgia. He is the proprietor of Deon’s Event Center, a premier venue in downtown Tifton, Georgia, offering a versatile space for weddings, receptions, birthday parties, banquets, and other special events. Additionally, Deon owns and runs Deon’s 24/7 Photography, Party & Event Rentals in Tallahassee, where he provides professional photography services and a wide range of event equipment, including tents, tables, chairs, and outdoor climate control items such as fans and heaters. His business has steadily expanded into the Tifton area, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to serving diverse communities.
Photography is Deon’s first love and creative passion. He can often be found photographing events across Florida and Georgia, where his work captures the essence of essential moments for clients. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Deon is deeply committed to giving back to the community. He serves on the Community Advisory Board of Tallahassee Lenders Consortium and is an active member of various local organizations. As a Master Mason, Deon is the Worshipful Master of Englewood Lodge #399 (PHA) in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He holds the position of Associate Patron of Beth Eden Chapter #63 Order of the Eastern Star (PHA) in Fitzgerald. His community involvement reflects his dedication to service and leadership.
Deon is also passionate about entrepreneurship and education. He teaches entrepreneurship workshops at Florida A&M University’s School of Business & Industry as part of the Blackstone Launchpad Initiative. Through these workshops, he helps students understand the process of creating, marketing, and sustaining a business—from ideation to revenue generation. His hands-on approach and personal guidance have made him a valuable mentor for aspiring entrepreneurs. In addition, he is a Lifetime Member of the FAMU National Alumni Association and remains active in alumni affairs.
Raised in Beulah Hill Baptist Church in Tifton, Georgia, Deon is now an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida, where he contributes to his church community under the leadership of Rev. Dr. R.B. Holmes.
Deon’s academic achievements include a high school diploma from Tift County High School (2001), an Associate in Arts degree from Tallahassee Community College, and a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design (Photography) from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication. He also holds a Master of Applied Social Science degree with a concentration in Public Administration from FAMU’s Graduate School.
In his personal life, Deon is a devoted father to three sons—Jelani, Michael, and Jacob. In his spare time, he enjoys relaxing, watching television, traveling, and reading a good book, particularly on the beach. Deon strongly advocates hard work, community engagement, and lifelong learning, continuously seeking to inspire and uplift those around him.
